these days

rain is devotedly singing its love to the earth
i sit by the window
breathing their fragrant romance
and idly matching my silence to the mad cadence

i’ve been busy in the kitchen, cooking
apricot jam, a crisp snack and warm meals
my hands seem to move in little prayers
as they work around the house

sometimes i steal from work, to read
eclipse between the pages of poetry
write stories in my head
and dream of a dream

we dine by the glimmer of candles
take night walks
and sit on a stone bench by the deep shadow of foliage
gazing at the picture of rain, softly drizzling under the lamp post

these days...
i'm full of shadows, rain song and silence

let my thoughts come to you
when I am gone
like the afterglow of sunset
at the margin of starry silence
